Rhinoplasty

A procedure once thought to be reserved for the rich and famous, rhinoplasty is becoming more widely available and affordable to the average person through a procedure known as a Non-surgical Nose Job. This minimally invasive procedure uses a dermal filler such as Radiesse, Restylane, or Botox to smooth out the contours of the nose.
The entire procedure is performed in a doctor's office and takes about fifteen minutes. This is why some people refer to the procedure as the "15 Minute Nose Job." During the procedure, a plastic surgeon uses small needles to inject natural or synthetic fillers into the skin in targeted areas predetermined during the initial evaluation. When injected into the skin, these fillers can smooth out bumps, fill in hollow places, and make the nose appear straighter, and even smaller. Although the idea of adding to the nose to make it look smaller is a bit counter-intuitive, since the procedure eliminates abnormalities in the nose, it doesn't stand out as much, and therefore appears smaller.
Many cosmetic surgeons believe the Non-surgical Nose Job to be a perfect alternative to surgery because of its minimal risks and significantly less recovery time as well as the convenience and efficiency of an in-patient procedure. The procedure is also reportedly quite painless and involves the use of an anesthetic cream to minimize any discomfort that the patient might feel.
Dr. Alexander Rivkin, a pioneer of the procedure, says that the results of the treatment last longer than other types of dermal injections such as those used to enhance lips or eliminate crow's feet because we tend to move our nose less often than we move other parts of the face. The results can last anywhere from six months to two years depending on the type of filler used.
The procedure is not permanent like a surgical nose job however, so prospective patients should weigh this reality against any potential side effects of the procedures. The price difference is also a consideration. Whereas traditional rhinoplasty, which requires surgery and general anesthesia, typically costs between $3,000-$8,000, the price of its non-surgical counterpart is about $1,000.
The best candidates for a Non-surgical Nose Job are those hoping to smooth out the contours of the nose as well as any deformities that exist. Individuals wishing to make their nose smaller, either in length or in width, will not benefit from it, as the procedure cannot actually decrease the size of the nose.
The side effects associated with the treatment include redness, swelling, bruising, and mild irritation. These side effects are generally temporary and subside within one week. Compared with the potentially damaging and long-lasting side effects of traditional rhinoplasty, these side effects are quite minimal.
Individuals considering a 15 Minute Non-Surgical Nose Job should consider the benefits as well as the costs involved and any potential side effects that may result from the procedure. A consultation with a licensed and reputable cosmetic surgeon can provide you with the comprehensive information necessary to make a more informed decision.
