Sprained Knee Symptoms

Playing sports or participating in normal daily activities sometimes causes individuals to experience a sprained knee. It isn't always clear to what extent the knee has been injured or how sever the sprain is. We will explore some of the symptoms as well as some incidents that certain people have shared with us. Another sprained knee symptom that is common is the swelling and inflammation of the knee area. This is one of the most common symptoms, swelling is consistently one of the first signs of such an injury. Professionals recommend that this symptom can be eased with ice as well as elevation of your leg. If you will be treating the inflammation of your knee with ice, please make sure that the ice is not placed directly on the skin. Never place ice directly on skin, as this can cause burns. Remember to use a cloth and then apply ice to the area that has swelling.

Elevating the entire leg will also help with the reduction of swelling, this will allow for improved blood flow to the injured area, as well as reduce some of the pain. Such an injury as this is never pleasant and often times it can be painful, it is important to use caution when performing any activities to an injured leg or knee. If the injury is not cared for, the symptoms can return and more damage can be caused. There are also various other sprained knee symptoms, however as described above the most common symptoms are pain and swelling of the injured knee.
